William S. Baer Award for Outstanding Service in the Advancement of Biotherapy
The William S. Baer Award for Outstanding Service in the Advancement of Biotherapy was established by the BTER Foundation in 2009, in honor of Dr. Baer: the first Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University, and “grandfather” of maggot therapy in the 20th Century.
The William S. Baer Award is a recognition of the work of individuals who have substantially contributed to the advancement of biotherapy. Awardees do not need to be affiliated with the BTER Foundation. However, the Foundation attracts many of the world's biotherapy leaders, as well as the lay community, to join its ranks. So it is no wonder that most recipients are, or eventually will be, members of the BTER Foundation.
Biographies of recent awardees can be found at www.BTERFoundation.org/baerawardees
