At a sober living home for veterans in Winnebago, Minnesota, dogs are being introduced to help veterans cope with PTSD and overcome alcohol and drug addiction. The sober living home, named Bravo Zulu House, partnered with K9s for Warriors, a non profit organization that provides trained service dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and sexual trauma. Many of the dogs were mistreated but are now given a second chance in this program. A positive effect has already been observed: the dogs are helping veterans get more hours of sleep, presumably because the dogs never leave their side. These dogs, who were saved by K9s for Warriors, are now helping to heal others. To learn more about the program click here.
